You wouldn’t expect it from a guy like me but I have always loved going fishing. I know this is a surprise, but in fact, I love it almost as much as I love getting together with the guys over on a Friday night for a marathon of Dungeons and Dragons. I mean, what is it you think I do to bring me back up, after I keep getting crushed over and over by my friend’s 12-year-old brother, on these game nights?
That’s right, I go fishing. I take my dog and I head up to the lake the next day. I get away from everyone, and I just stay there in silence thinking why am I still so bad at board games after all these years. And I wait for the fish to hook.
If you love going fishing yourself you know how the days out there can be long and tiring, even if you are doing something you really love. And on top of that, there’s all the gear. There’s just so many things and instruments to consider it can drive you a bit crazy in the head trying to think of ways in which to better stay organized.
One of the things I found is really important for making your life easier if you go fishing, is having a great fishing backpack that can be adequate to your needs. I found it saves you a whole lot of time and trouble. Why?
A good fishing backpack will help you save time by keeping your things in place!
And plus, have you ever seen a top-notch fishing backpack? Those things are awesome, you can attach so much stuff to them that you can almost feel like a cyborg loaded with weapon parts coming from a sci-fi movie. Does Ghost in the Shell ring a bell?
I say this because I recently found myself shopping for one after realizing I was still using the same backpack, which wasn’t meant to go fishing at all, for some years. And only after trying on a real fishing backpack I realized how awesome those things are, with all the placeholders.
I never knew how important it was to own one until a friend warned me of the benefits of having a backpack that’s actually designed for people who intend to go fishing. And I can tell you I never thought it would make such a difference until I found myself trying my new fishing backpack. Boy, is my back thanking me for the swap! And because of it now I get to spend more time doing what I like, which is spending time alone and away from people up in the lake.
A good backpack increases your endurance and allows you to keep on fishing for a longer time!
However, you should be aware it can be a bit overwhelming to know what it is exactly that you want to get from your fishing backpacks. There are so many different models and sizes out there, it gets tricky. For this reason, I’ve compiled a few guidelines that are meant to help you with the process of choosing the best fishing backpack for you. It’s all about finding your best fit. I hope it helps.
How can you find fishing backpacks that better suits you?
When choosing a backpack, there are a few things you will want to consider, especially regarding the type of fishing you will want to be doing and the place where it will be happening.
After that, I’ve narrowed it down to three simple aspects that pretty much help you get through the process of choosing the best fishing backpack:
Keep organized. Check how much space your tackle and gear require and from then assess how much space your new backpack is going to need. Few things are worse than not being able to fit all your gear. Make sure you choose fishing backpacks that’s big enough to fit all your gear and buy the right size! Don’t go for extra space you won’t need if your plan is to keep the backpack on you for long hours. Comfort is also key!
Most fishing backpacks have attached holders that are used to place other pieces of equipment. Find what most suits you. Choose your backpack judging on your necessities and on how you need to place your gear. Don’t buy a backpack with a holder for sunglasses, if you don’t use them. Choose according to your needs and to how you like your items to be accessible.
The straps present in backpacks determine how you can distribute the weight load. In fishing this is very important to consider as you will possibly be standing for hours, it can be fishing on the river bank or walking to your preferred secret location on the lake. It’s important to choose wisely, in order to save your back from aching because of the weight you are carrying. The more you can prevent your back from aching, the longer you can remain fishing. Keep an eye for large straps, as they tend to even the weight across your shoulder.
There are many options when it comes to choosing a fishing backpack. It can be overwhelming to choose the best one for you, due to the range of prices, brands, and models. However, it’s important to choose wisely. A good fishing backpack can last you for a long time. Therefore the importance of having it match your needs is key. Don’t worry, though. I’m sure you will find what best suits you if you keep this advice I gave you in mind. If you need more guidance, check my ultimate fishing backpack guide.
Good luck, out shopping. As for me, I would have another game night, tonight. But I’ve just started thinking I may save time and trouble on attending it by just skipping it and heading to the lake first thing in the morning.
